The Hoxton Hotel Atlanta

ENGLISH

The Hoxton Hotel in Atlanta, Georgia was the first group project assigned, especially during the peak of the pandemic. For this project, the group had to pick a film that was filmed in Atlanta as inspiration for the hotel's design.

The group chose The Hunger Games due to its extensive use of textures and rich colors. We also wanted to incorporate the film's adaptation of including both an urban setting with nature.

For the guest rooms, each floor was assigned a specific district from the film to serve as concept inspiration. A few used were textiles, masonry, and technology.

The area that I focused on was the Bar Lounge. It was significant to utilize a variety of seating for the guests to wind down in order to adhere to everyone's anthropometrics. One thing to point out in the Bar Lounge is the art on the wall. All of the pieces are Atlanta-native artists that identify as women. This was an important detail in the project because the group wanted to celebrate and support the local artists of Atlanta.

Although it was a challenging time to take on a group project, this group persevered and accomplished a project that we were all proud of in the end. It was a great challenge to learn time management, especially when a group member was in a time zone across the world, and to learn communication and responsibilities within a group.
